Week
________________________
I finally blogged about my first few weeks. I've made a weak showing with this resolution but I've got 48 weeks to go and I think I can do better. This week, I dressed up my blog and added the previous weeks' posts.
How do you like the header and the layout? I had fun make numbers - a combo of crayons, watercolor, paper and markers.

This one is a bit of a stretch. It's not as actively creative as I would hope, but it's a crazy week. For A and B's wedding gift, I made them a name frame. I started giving these pieces of art with my friend C. I can't claim the original idea, though. Another C friend told me of a gift someone made for her sister.
So, what I do is take pictures of things that resemble letters. I prefer not to use pictures of actual letters but there are some weird ones out there and I've had to resort to using some signage.
I've got quite an alphabet going, so all I had to do was print the pictures. I did mix it up with a little red with the black and white pictures (see below). I think it turned out great.
By the way...Hobby Lobby folks in Texas are great. I've never had a problem getting my mats cut when I was in Texas and it doesn't seem to matter where in the great state. As for other stores, I've not been too impressed with the service so far.

It's probably not a good thing that this made it into 2009, but I'm going to count it anyway. I've known for more than half a year that I was going to do the wedding programs for A and B. I've known for at least 4 months what the format of the programs was going to be. And, I finished the design 6 days before the wedding.
It's a booklet with four pages, made up of two sheets folded and glued at the top. To add some jazz, I put a rhinestone on the front of each.
P.S. Since I'm posting this after the wedding, I'll go ahead and say that there was bit of a scare when we got to the wedding and no one knew where the programs were. I was supposed to bring them from the house but didn't go back there Saturday morning. The crisis was averted and the programs were handed out, although I never found out who brought them. Thanks, whoever you are!

It is appropriate that I shared my first craft of the year with my mom and sister. They are both very creative; I guess it runs in the family.
We had a girls' night - ordered pizza, popped in a DVD and painted glasses. The glasses were for a bachelorette party for my best friend A. The plan is for everyone to take one home as a party favor. Here are some of my pieces:
Boy, am I glad that I had help! We had 24 glasses, so we each did 8. It's hard coming up with 8 different designs that people will wnat to take home.
P.S. A picked one of mine, without knowing I painted it - the one on the far left with the pink flowers and yellow base.

I know, I know....
I have not given up on my New Year's Resolution. I have actually done something each week; I just haven't posted anything.
I promise I will get to it by the weekend. I'll also dress up my blog.
Here's what to expect:
Week 1 - Painted Wine Glasses
Week 2 - Wedding programs (for a friend)
Week 3 - Name frame
